When migrations run in parallel across multiple systems, customers and projects, maintaining control quickly becomes a critical success factor. This is where Central monitoring comes in. The solution automates migration processes, centrally monitors critical activities, and ensures that even the most complex transformations remain manageable, even in highly dynamic multi-customer environments.
Central monitoring is primarily used in Selective Data Transition (SDT) migration projects such as carve-outs, NewGL, and conversions. It can also centrally manage anonymization scenarios with DCS Protect. One of its greatest advantages is the ability to execute all scenarios in parallel across multiple customers while keeping the entire process fully automated, which is also its primary objective. Central monitoring ensures the automated execution of migration processes while providing a centralized overview of all clients and projects.
Central monitoring retrieves the status of every defined project, task group, and task, then generates the corresponding execution step. If a project is located on a different system than the one running central monitoring, its status is retrieved via RFC. The following execution options are available:
Execution can be stopped at any time. However, projects, task groups, or individual tasks cannot be reset through central monitoring itself.
Within each client, every step starts only after the previous one has been completed successfully. Multiple clients can run in parallel, increasing efficiency and reducing overall migration time.

To use central monitoring, several prerequisites must be met. DCS Migrate must be installed, and predefined step lists must be available. These serve as the foundation for the structured and automated execution of individual migration steps.
