Komm.ONE was tasked with migrating nearly 1,000 clients from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. The goal was to establish a standardized and repeatable migration approach capable of handling large volumes of clients efficiently while enabling independent operation after the implementation phase. At the same time, both technical complexity and manual effort for future go-lives needed to be significantly reduced.

A large-scale journey from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA

With SAP ECC maintenance ending in 2027, Komm.ONE faced considerable pressure to act. Given the sheer number of clients involved, a traditional one-to-one migration approach was neither practical nor economically viable. Instead, a solution was required that could deliver selective data migrations quickly, securely, and repeatedly at scale.

In addition, the project demanded a platform capable of supporting large-scale parallel migrations while meeting the highest standards for performance, stability, and operational reliability.

Mass migration without compromise: Komm.ONE's SAP S/4HANA rollout

Following a public tender process, Komm.ONE selected Natuvion and the Data Conversion Suite (DCS). The decision was driven by Natuvion’s proven expertise in Selective Data Transition (SDT) projects as well as the capabilities of DCS Analyze and DCS Migrate.

Since the project launch in April 2023, DCS Migrate has been continuously enhanced to meet the demands of a large-scale migration program. Working closely together, Natuvion and Komm.ONE optimized the platform for performance, usability, and automation.

Today, the solution enables the highly standardized migration of up to 40 clients in parallel, including automated reconciliation reporting and integrated quality monitoring.

A flagship project for the public sector

Following the successful enhancement of DCS Migrate, Komm.ONE has already migrated its first clients to SAP S/4HANA independently and without disruption. The organization now benefits from a scalable solution that enables fast, secure, and highly automated go-lives while significantly reducing the need for external support.

The project is among the largest SAP S/4HANA migration initiatives in Germany and serves as a benchmark for digital transformation in the public sector. It demonstrates how standardized methodologies, powerful technology, and close collaboration can successfully deliver even the most complex transformation programs.
