Step by Step Towards SAP S/4HANA
The transition to SAP S/4HANA represented a complex transformation challenge for the corporate group. Large volumes of data from the existing SAP ECC systems had to be selectively migrated while extensive functional preparation activities were carried out simultaneously. These activities included the implementation of the New General Ledger, the conversion of Asset Accounting, and Customer Vendor Integration (CVI).
In addition, the significant changes across Finance and Logistics required careful technical preparation and execution. At the same time, only relevant data and selected historical information were to be transferred from the legacy systems in order to establish an efficient and future-proof system landscape.
Natuvion DCS: One Tool, Multiple Possibilities
To technically execute the transformation, rku.it relied on the Natuvion Data Conversion Suite. At the very beginning of the project, the solution was used to selectively extract the relevant data from the SAP ECC systems of DSW21 and DEW21. This enabled the targeted exclusion of specific company codes while transferring only the required historical data.
As the project progressed, the Natuvion DCS supported the definition of selection and mapping criteria for migrating FI data into the New General Ledger. In addition, the solution enabled the transfer of data from existing table structures into the new General Ledger and Asset Accounting tables. In the final phase, the Natuvion DCS supported the complete migration of all relevant data into the SAP S/4HANA structures.
Another critical success factor was the close collaboration between Natuvion and rku.it. Through comprehensive enablement activities delivered by the Natuvion Transformation Team – including training videos from the Natuvion Partner Academy, virtual workshops, and on-site training sessions – the rku.it team was fully empowered to independently operate the Natuvion DCS.
Empowered to Operate the Natuvion DCS
Thanks to the use of the Natuvion Data Conversion Suite, the prerequisites for a successful transition to the NextGen platform were established efficiently and reliably. Following the enablement program, rku.it was able to independently execute the migration runs and successfully complete the SAP S/4HANA transformation for DSW21 and DEW21.
The structured project approach, the selective migration of data, and the technical support provided by the Natuvion DCS enabled a smooth transformation of the existing SAP landscape. At the same time, the project established the foundation for future transformation initiatives: in a subsequent project, rku.it is already leveraging the Natuvion DCS for the transformation to SAP S/4 Utilities in the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) role.
