Legacy system landscape and increasing compliance requirements
Prior to the project, Conair’s existing IT landscape was not optimally equipped to address GDPR requirements. Personal data was processed across a complex and highly fragmented system environment that lacked consistent mechanisms for identifying, analyzing, and managing sensitive information.
At the same time, expectations from customers and regulatory authorities regarding data privacy and security continued to rise. This created increased risk exposure for Conair, both in terms of potential compliance violations and possible financial or reputational impact. As a result, there was an urgent need to assess the existing systems and implement a structured data privacy strategy.
A clear path toward compliance
To implement GDPR compliance, Natuvion adopted a holistic approach combining SAP standard solutions with proprietary technologies. Alongside SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), which governs the blocking, archiving, and deletion of data, the DCS Analyze platform was deployed.
DCS Analyze enabled the identification and analysis of personal data across the entire system landscape. Based on these insights, targeted measures for data cleansing and governance could be implemented effectively. The combination of both solutions established end-to-end control over the complete data lifecycle.
In addition, Natuvion supported Conair with the necessary expertise and resource capacity to execute the transformation efficiently while balancing data privacy, operational requirements, and cost efficiency.
Reduced risks and accelerated digital transformation
By successfully achieving GDPR compliance, Conair significantly reduced its data privacy risks while simultaneously creating the foundation for a modernized IT landscape. Beyond meeting regulatory requirements, the initiative also delivered measurable business value, including a substantial reduction in operating costs.
Furthermore, Conair leveraged the project as an opportunity to accelerate its digital transformation. As part of the initiative, 25 legacy systems were replaced by a centralized SAP ERP platform, and multiple business entities were successfully integrated into a unified IT structure. The new system landscape enables more efficient processes, improved scalability, and simplified management of data privacy requirements.
Looking ahead, Conair plans to further expand the automation of its data management processes and introduce centralized solutions for GDPR compliance management and reporting.
