Objective
Ratiodata chose to modernize its ERP landscape by migrating from its existing SAP ECC environment to a state-of-the-art SAP S/4HANA platform. Detailed project overview
Complex technical and organizational requirements
The transformation involved a demanding combination of technical and business requirements. At its core was the carve-out of two specific company codes from the existing SAP ECC system and migrate them seamlessly into the new SAP S/4HANA environment. This required the precise separation of data, processes, and system dependencies, while ensuring consistency and integrity in the target system.
Beyond the technical migration, Ratiodata aimed to enhance system performance and establish a more agile, scalable infrastructure to support the company’s growing needs. Achieving this required careful planning, extensive testing, and close coordination between all involved teams.
Driving efficiency with Natuvion DCS
To execute the transition, Natuvion employed the Selective Data Transition (SDT) approach, enabling the migration of only the essential data required for the new environment. However, as the project progressed, additional goals emerged, including the integration of a content server. As this was outside the initial project scope, the Natuvion and Ratiodata teams needed to determine the most efficient way to incorporate this task into the broader migration strategy, ensuring its seamless execution.
At the same time, the project required tackling complex performance issues, and ensuring system readiness through innovative problem-solving. This included adjusting operation modes and parallelizing key processes, which enabled Natuvion to dramatically reduce the duration of the Logistics (LO) conversion – from 9 hours to under 1 hour. Ultimately, the Selective Data Transition process involved six test phases before successfully going live in the seventh.
To support and accelerate the transformation, the Natuvion Data Conversion Suite was used as a central enabler. Combined with Natuvion’s deep expertise, this made it possible to address functional challenges and resolve unforeseen configuration issues effectively. As a Ratiodata project representative noted, “Natuvion was instrumental in pulling some hot potatoes out of the fire.”
A future-ready infrastructure with SAP S/4HANA
With the successful completion of the project, Ratiodata now operates a modern, high-performance ERP system that supports its strategic objectives and provides a robust, future-proof foundation for continuous innovation and growth. This enables the company to respond quickly and efficiently to evolving business requirements.
Key success factors included not only thorough preparation and six iterative testing cycles, but also the strong collaboration between Natuvion and Ratiodata. Despite communication barriers and time zone differences, both teams maintained clear and effective communication throughout the entire project.
This project exemplifies how expertise, adaptability, and collaboration can overcome complex challenges to deliver exceptional results. The transition not only fulfilled its immediate goals but also positioned us for long-term success.
