Finding the right migration strategy
The primary challenge was to determine the migration approach best suited to E.V.A.’s specific requirements from a range of available transformation options. A generic comparison of advantages and disadvantages alone was insufficient, as the existing system landscape and data structures required a far more differentiated analysis. At the same time, reliable planning was essential in order to realistically assess risks, costs, and resource requirements.
In addition, the project faced a lack of specialized SAP S/4HANA expertise as well as limited personnel capacities in the area of SAP transformation. Without a detailed assessment of the current landscape, there was a significant risk of making incorrect strategic decisions or pursuing inefficient transformation paths.
Enabling informed decisions through the discovery phase
To address these challenges, the project team implemented a structured discovery phase as a preliminary conceptual stage of the transformation program. At the core of this phase was a comprehensive data assessment conducted by Natuvion using its proprietary Natuvion Data Conversion Suite.
All technical information within the existing SAP landscape was analyzed and presented in a transparent and structured manner. These insights formed the basis for informed discussions and strategic decision-making across the E.V.A. organization. At the same time, the close collaboration between regio iT, Natuvion, and all involved stakeholders ensured continuous knowledge transfer throughout the project. Regular coordination and communication created transparency, enabled the rapid clarification of open issues, and provided a stable framework for effective project governance.
Setting the course for a successful SAP S/4HANA transformation
Based on the insights gained during the discovery phase, E.V.A. was able to make a well-founded decision regarding its individual transformation approach. The discovery phase not only delivered the necessary basis for decision-making, but also established the foundation for the SAP S/4HANA roadmap and its technical implementation.
The structured preparation had a positive impact on the overall project execution, particularly through reduced risks and improved planning reliability. Furthermore, the collaborative partnership between all parties involved proved to be a critical success factor. The transparency achieved and the close coordination enabled efficient alignment and ensured adherence to the project timeline. Building on these results, the collaboration will continue throughout the subsequent project phases as the transformation moves into active implementation.
